*** 26th ***
work went well. i learned stuff. i assed around. i ate at burger ranch. and it wasn't so bad.
i took the bus home, nodding off the whole way.
i did some shopping, then went out shopping with our brit, who prepared a styling meal of bangers and mash.
*** yesterday ***
i woke up at 07.20, with a miserable attempt at the algorithms homework. i had a really interesting conversation with our brit, at about 8am, about helicopters and flight and stuff. he actually knows things. many things.
i bladed to class (last time i'll be doing THAT for a while), and discovered the class had been cancelled. i finally got that newsletter sent out to all the international students, and have already had one sign up!
so nice to see a plan come together.
i did some c# homework, went to class, and then spent a couple of hours finishing the algorithms.
we had a really interesting class, and came up with a topic for our 40 page paper...
40 pages...
at some point during the day, i was introduced to a hybrid apple & pear. very nice.
i bladed home quite quickly, and for some reason i had a lot of energy - i don't understand.
i had a quick supper, then went off to taekwondo. where i got beaten really badly. i managed to keep up with the class, which felt really good, but the fighting was hard.
i kicked someone, with full power, in the elbow. my foot swelled up immediately, i don't recall being in that much pain since i broke my fingers as a child. it really scares me to look at it.
i went home with one of the kids, and it took forever for the bus to arrive. we went past the paramedics base station, and discovered that they no longer have doctors on duty at night, and i can't afford to spend R400 on hospital fees. so i walked home, had an AMAZING shower,
*** today ***
and am now on my way to bed.
*** later ***
my brain hurts. i woke up at 08.00, and hurried off, with grootbek, to math class. which sucked. piles. it was totally aweful, and we learned nothing.
we did enjoy some time poking fun at the lecturer, which got him quite annoyed, but otherwise, hell hath no fury like an early math class.
after class, i went to the labs to do my c# homework. the lab with .NET installed was unavailable. which meant working without a compiler.
doesn't help when you need to hand in an executable.
doesn't help when you need to know if your code runs.
after an hour and twenty minutes, i was almost done. and my knee brushed against the reset button on the machine... and there's a security policy set up that deletes all foreign files on the desktop...
fortunately, i managed to repeat all my work in under half an hour, hopefully with few errors.
i went out with grootbek for lunch, did some minor shopping, and then she came over. we watched mary poppins, me for the first time, and then she disappeared home.
i've spent the past four hours trying to get past the copy protection for master of orion 3, which has proved doable, but there's about 450MB that seems suspiciously unnecessary...
i need to get some sleep tonight, which probably won't happen, and i need to do my programming homework, which isn't really happening either. i do more damage to myself than anything else... my foot's feeling better, though.
a story about a man making his dreams come true... but with all the interesting bits left out.
