the only appointment available was at 12.40, and it was 12.30 when i called to make it. i *rushed*. and i had a chance at making it more or less on time, only i picked the wrong stop to stand at. for the next fifteen minutes, every bus line that i didn't need came past - there are three lines that were good for me, and they're usually the most frequent. thank you, murphy.
the receptionist was blasé, and assured me that it was alright for me to go in even though i was half an hour late. the doctor, on the other hand, was FURIOUS. he'd apparently waiting for me for fifteen minutes. i was shocked, because i'd expect them to simply send in the next patient and make me beg to be seen...
i couldn't even speak to defend myself. he angrily dismissed my complaints and wrote me out a note for the class that i missed: i think the last time i got one of those was in primary school. i walked out feeling really shitty, both physically and for being in his libri nigri with good reason.
i returned home, found myself quite unproductive, had a quick shower and then went to work to pick up a laptop. the heat outside was icky. it's a long journey when you're not feeling well, and i had to run to catch the bus :/
after laughing at my lost voice, mmf told me that if i was going to be sick then i could just pick up the laptop and get the hell out of there - nobody's allowed to bring illness into the office :)
the bus back was crazy: taking a bus in israel is like being surprised by a ticket to a roller-coaster - only there's more real danger and you actually get to go somewhere. but not to worry! even old people and pregnant women manage!
i was rather dizzy after that.
angry birds - like gorillas, but the lack of precision means you need luck for all three stars. it doesn't *matter* if you know what needs to be done.
my throat was feeling a bit better, as was i after lying down for a bit and being treated to really good pastries; then i got up and finished my paper, fought a losing fight against facebook - my events and posts keep disappearing, and everyone *else* can see them - and had dinner before setting up the work laptop.
fedora kept giving me the run-around, each time i tried to install something it claimed that some other prerequisite was missing, and so i'd download and try installing that package only to discover something else not right...
... and then, suddenly, the screen went dark. not blank, but the brightness dropped to an unusable level. suspending and resuming fixed it, but only for a couple of minutes at a time... so i tried restarting it. and it will no longer boot. if only that had happened earlier, and i hadn't wasted so much time on the installations! :S
i finished watching the seven year itch with pg, then put on mutha fm's mobile offering on my iphone while posting this and theoretically getting some work done.
only my throat's hurting again. dammit.
follow the pun threads. some of them are awfully good.
