the creative writing workshop's poetry evening was sweet. there was a little amusement beforehand (some people can't hold their liquor, and by that i mean to say that they exhibit tendencies to spill it on others), and there was a little awkwardness as well; i stood reading news feeds until things began. the readings were interesting - a couple of really good ones - but once they were done that was it, and i skipped off to (old) work.
quora. what an interesting idea.
i sat at work for over an hour, and aside from a ten minute chat with my kibbutz cousin i sat poking and prodding and teasing the code... i can't figure out what exactly is causing all the discrepancies (i'm porting the application to a new server), but i have understood that the primary issue is a complete lack of exception handling. wrapping each offending particle in try / catch clauses, rebuilding, redeploying, testing... slow going.
pg called to threaten me with dinner, so i hopped to and caught the bus back home. i spent most of the way with my eyes glued to my phone (i haven't been reading the news in years, now that i have feeds on my phone i can't stop), only pulling them away when i had to cross a busy street and then walk through alleys - i had to go the long way around, because a water mains had burst a street away from our apartment...
i was really tired when i got back. we ate, i showered, i passed out. i almost got up to go blading but realized that i wasn't quite up for it, so i slept in until 00.40 (a few minutes before pg returned) and got onto this post, emails, etc.
now to get some reading done before getting back to sleep.
