today began with a sad meeting at work. the company's downsizing, and the head of our department's management team is the only one who's going... the thing is, he's a sweet guy but he really didn't have enough responsibility to justify any salary. the whole thing's been awkward for a while.
i was reminded of mcgrath, though. fortunately for the manager, he's known for a few days already. i had this image in my mind of him reaching for one of the doughnuts that were provided at the end of the talk and being met with a "not so fast!"
i spent the day learning how our code subversion system works and writing up our deployment procedures, alongside finally getting something useful done with xml.
i got home fairly late, spoke to my mum for a couple of minutes and... ummm... well, i've read what i need for tomorrow, i've made some headway into the paper i began yesterday, i've caught up with a whole lot of webcomics, critiqued scrapper's latest offering (again with the good stuff) and been involved in political debates...
shit. and it's late, too. i needed to get some paid work done :S
a story about a man making his dreams come true... but with all the interesting bits left out.
