cat got the cream?

we'll find out tomorrow when spot gets back. with my katjes.

i missed my bus last night, so i paid for the minibus taxi. terry pratchett - men at arms kept me awake way longer than i anticipated (they were detectoring. you can't stop reading while people are detectoring).

i woke up, showered, shaved, and still arrived on base early. Sorted Things Out. discovered that the kid was in a crappier situation than me. that's not cool. i've stopped caring about piles - i've got more useful things to spend energy on. he's just a stupid kid. thank you, good will hunting, because that's something i did need help dealing with.

the kid and i got all sorts of weird things done today, and then left the base early to view an apartment. it's a couple of hundred metres from spot's place. it's three bedrooms (one's a little small, but not too small), a huge living room, all in decent condition. it comes with helpful things like a huge fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher, washing machine... a well-placed (ie NOT inside a room) shower / bathroom, separate toilet, air-conditioners in every room...

the landlord seems quite decent. the kid's father came to close the deal (we were told there was a couple coming to close the deal two hours later, whether it's true or not, we'd already decided). now to sort out the third tenant, the contracts, and then begin moving in.

and UNPACKING. and LIVING.

i bussed to work, had a good sandwich, only spilled half my coffee all over my desk when the manager walked in while i was watching ultimate utopia xxiii [if you've ever played final fantasy, you *HAVE* to see it!].

other than that, it's been a highly productive evening. and now i'm getting all smug:

i just had a chat with my mom. and she said something that took a few seconds to click into place.
there are less than twelve weeks to go before i return to south africa. before my life turns around completely, piles becomes a speck on my windshield, and the air force transfer becomes a reality.

i can't not continue smiling.
