goes the weasel

too much! how is it thursday already?!

today got an early start... our first class can only be described as "cruel and unusual". she waxed nonsensical about freud and combined that with her usual wordy tautological redundancies. i read other freud while ignoring her, trying to catch useful stuff but only becoming more tired by the exertion.

so the first cup of coffee and the first half of the wafers weren't too useful.

the second cup and the rest of the wafers fared a bit better, but only because the class was more interesting. i managed to keep my mouth shut for most of it, only coming to the rescue at the very end to paraphrase: "the dynamic nature of any culture's definition of literature points to that definition's usefulness as a reflection of the present state of that culture".

all i could think of was hido translating a one-minute joke of mine that orientals find offensive for his girlfriend: five minutes of japanese later and she still wasn't going to find it funny...

i appear to be making friends amongst my classmates - slowly, but surely, everyone seems to be chilling out :)

i wasted half an hour in the computer lab trying to decode my phone's backup, then went to eat (and backup my phone data to my netbook) before attempting to upgrade my phone. no luck. of *course* they don't have any iphones in stock :/

i headed off to work, slowly and stupidly (yup, that lack of sleep again) managing to get somewhere before we were all treated to a loud *POP* as all our systems instantaneously died. our ups had fireballed; i decided it was time to leave.

i dropped off my bag and headed for the local orange service station... my experience from may 2009 notwithstanding, i wasn't *really* expecting them to have stock. and they didn't :(

nystire met me there, and we walked back to my place. only one unpleasant old man walking on the bicycle path managed to annoy me (after he'd given a cyclist a hard time):
"excuse me, sir - you're walking exactly on the bike path"
"so what? this is first and foremost for pedestrians"
"no, it's not. that's the bike path, this is for pedestrians"

he mumbled something before slowly making his way across the line. does everything have to be difficult in this country?

we suffered installation woes - setting up my machine to accept windows was a bitch, and i'm *really* grateful to nystire for his help. pg came over and we all watched the gamers, and after she left nystire managed to provide a challenge in tekken :)

unfortunately, the installation was not a giant success - i'm remembering why i don't like microsoft products...

the caretaker stopped by my kitchen window while i was doing dishes, and promised to drop off a key. he made good on that promise, so i'm surprised and grateful.

i *must* clean my apartment. i must also now read four chapters before class...
