catastropic - maybe a little whiny

ubuntu + windows 7 = not a problem. although installing (most of) the dev environments took until around 4am... that was when i decided that i needed to go to bed if i was to get up at 8-8.30am...

... when i jumped up, had a quick breakfast, managed the entire bank mission in about fifteen minutes, and squeezed onto a bus...

---

i listened to catastopie on my way to campus this morning - the album has finally come out... it's been a long time in the making. i got a personal email from one of the guys to let me know it was available :P

it needs be said that while i don't like all the tracks, a few of them are absolutely brilliant - it's totally worthwhile downloading the free version and checking them out.

---

first class: another brain breaking session. i waited afterwards for a first year to express in three different ways that she wasn't getting the connection to freud (i really wanted to tell her that none of us were... it's a stupid analytical technique) to find out that our lecturer is a hillman-hater.
but she did give me permission to use him as a platform instead of freud.

i went hunting for a piece of paper that i need to prove to the army that i'm a student (and that they should try to leave me alone) - of course it's cool that the process is automated! it's just not cool that none of the machines are working or prepared to read my student card :/

the second class was fun - we didn't really do too much, just expounded on the differences between fiction and fantasy, narnia and star wars and lord of the rings...

i had the usual cheap lunch, chatting with a kid who tried to help me with the card reader. in my haste to eat, i forgot to get my quiz results - it was too late. oh, well.

[i'm unable to find the post where i complained about an officer who made me wait (albeit with a cute bartender) so long that when he arrived i had to leave - i ran into him on campus today]

i arrived at work to be introduced to a problem with a "figure it out" - i don't touch what i don't know. i did get it eventually, and documented it. why do people find this so hard??

during this exercise, i learned that eclipse for java has standard (broad) search functionality, flex simply does not. how the hell do people not care?!

i thank india for making me comfortable with public toilets.

two trent reznor moments popped up this evening:
steal it! and i'm afraid of americans
it turned out that the guys wanted me to be an american so that they could call me "amerkin'"... it's been the word of the day here at "merk'".
awful.
i provided a link to the klf - what time is love, and that took me back to 1992, opening my first techno cd. trippy.

i've been invited to an interview for a job that sounds really suitable - i have an interview early tuesday. when i asked the woman if their offices are located near X, she told me they were much closer to Y. alright, i thought, i'll check on the map.

i was totally right. but she works there! i thought i was missing something, so i asked around - nope, i was right. why does that happen so often? it's like a part of the interview is a navigation test :/

i sat outside with the lead, and he agreed with the solutions i proposed. we discussed an annoying php issue, then talked about the fact that i'm totally whoring myself out by charging so much lower than i'm worth... but i think it's worth it.

i have developed a proper belly. it must go. i must lose the weight. no messing about :S
