dream interpretation: almost flying

pg told me about a dream she had last night, one that i am compelled to transcribe and share.

a whole bunch of people were on a hike with me, and suddenly a few of them began to rush around, flapping their arms and gliding through the air in glee. and then, just as suddenly, they began to keel over and die. it was later determined that the cause of both their ability to fly and their deaths was some strange liquid that they had consumed, that ate away at their internal organs leaving them light as feathers and unable to survive.

my brain's already in freudian overdrive, but i don't know what to make of this.

  1. I found this online:

"To dream of flying represents a recent positive experience. Something that made you feel wonderful, capable, and free. Often a reflection creative free expression in waking life. Flying dreams may also occur after a sexual encounter.

Difficulties flying symbolizes something in your life that limits you, impairs your ability to realize goals, express yourself fully, or do your best." [Source:DreamBible.com]

It sounds like the dream is reflecting a lot of freedom or independence that was being experienced before fear or embarrassment set in ruining it.

  2. the dream is of a positive experience that's due to a hidden lack of something fundamental.

according to what you've said, it seems likely to me that those who consumed the liquid were freed of the weight or burden of what had been the basis of their existence; but without a suitable replacement they were unable to survive.

this is, of course, my own personal interpretation and therefore holds no water in the context of pg's subjective experience, but it's a nice idea... thanks!!!
